Why is "green" plywood important?
If you're remodeling or redecorating your home, there are certainly lots of decisions
to make. For many, aesthetics and cost are the primary concerns, but there's more
to be considered when investing in a new kitchen or furniture. With today's ever
increasing emphasis on health and the environment, it's important to examine the
both the ingredients and sources of your building materials.
Choosing hardwood plywood made with PureBond® formaldehyde-free technology for
your cabinetry and furniture is a smart and healthy choice for your home
Use this directory to
find a local PFN member who can design and build cabinetry and millwork from North
American-made, sustainably-harvested wood of the highest quality.
And you can breathe easier knowing it was made with ZERO added formaldehyde, so no toxic off-gassing
in your home or business.
85% of the average American's life is spent indoors.1
No small wonder, then, that in recent years Indoor Air Quality has become a hot
topic. According to the EPA, our indoor air can often times be 2-5 times more polluted
than outside air - regardless of where you live.
Dust and animal dander are perhaps obvious menaces - but did you know that many
of your home furnishings could also be giving off toxins (known as VOCs)
that could be seriously affecting your health? This is known as "offgassing." You
wouldn't want your kids sleeping in a freshly painted room, but what if you knew
that your carpets, furniture, cabinets and flooring were giving off similar or perhaps
even more harmful toxins?
Formaldehyde-free Hardwood Plywood
Since 2005 we've been manufacturing our hardwood plywood using a formaldehyde-free
resin derived from soy flour. This proprietary system, known as PureBond®, is non-toxic and still cost-competitive with
similar urea formaldehyde-based plywood products. And you can be assured PureBond
plywood is made domestically in our US and Canadian plants.
Our hardwood plywood can also be specified using FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council™) wood products,
making it a green choice for you and the planet.
Now our PureBond® plywood is available in stock and by special order at 1,700
Home Depot stores nationwide. Check your area for availability.
