Beardsley Community Farm Education Center

Sustainable Education Center for Community Engagement

The Beardsley Community Farm Education Center in Knoxville, Tennessee is a sustainable, design‑build project created to support food security, education, and community outreach. Designed and constructed by students and faculty from the University of Tennessee College of Architecture and Design, the center uses PureBond® formaldehyde‑free hardwood plywood to create healthy, durable interior spaces for learning and community engagement.

PureBond® Plywood for Healthy Learning Environments

PureBond® hardwood plywood from Columbia Forest Products was selected throughout the Beardsley Community Farm Education Center to support both sustainability goals and occupant health. Manufactured in the United States using a soy‑based, no‑added‑formaldehyde adhesive, PureBond® plywood helps protect indoor air quality in spaces designed for learning, gathering, and community use.

The plywood is left simply finished and exposed in many areas, reinforcing the project’s utilitarian character while showcasing the natural beauty and durability of hardwood panels. This material choice aligns with the farm’s values of transparency, environmental responsibility, and long‑term performance.
